4. Help Counter High School Military Recruitment
Fort Greene Peace will be joining Brooklyn For Peace and other groups around the city at Brooklyn Tech H.S and maybe other high schools in our area on “Open School Evening” October 29 from 5 to 6:30 pm
“Open School Day” October 30 from 12:30 to 1:30.
We will be handing out literature informing students and their parents that they can “opt out” of the military recruitment requirements of the “No Child left Behind” act which requires schools to send the military the contact information of each student unless that student’s parents request that this not happen. This is a major way the US military recruits students right out of high school.If you can join us and help out please RSVP at fortgreenepeace@gmail.com
5. The Domestic Violence Prevention Summit (endorsed by Fort Greene Peace)
Theme: “Everybody Knows Somebody: Stop Domestic Violence NOW!”
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2009, 12noon-6pm at the Arnold and Marie Schwartz Center,
1 University Plaza, on the campus of Long Island University — Brooklyn campus
(Corner of Flatbush and DeKalb, right across from the famous Junior’s Restaurant)
