The marriage equality bill (A.7732/O’Donnell) (S.4401/Duane) has passed the New York State Assembly with bipartisan support. The vote was 89-52, including 5 Republicans. The bill provides access to marriage for same-sex couples.
The bill goes to the Senate for a vote next. And if passed, New York will be the sixth state in the country to legalize gay marriage.
